Nice shot of the three Volvo ADT's.Blatantly showing the progression in manufacturing.  Does the Joal Volvo have any suspension?

As far as I remember, the Volvo-BM A25 Joal model was very basic with, neither any suspension on the rear tandem, nor any tipping ram(s) to lift its dump body.

modelmaniac, Volvo-BM A25 dumpers I know had a multi-stage ram installed at front of their body while the Joal model was fitted with a single ram under its 1/50 tipping unit:  Was there any earlier Volvo-BM A25 version with an under-tipper ram? I don't know. Regards. Guy

Looks like maybe a designer at Joal intended to have something like the 1/1,but it never ended up in production.I just thought they would have had something.So it is literally,just hinged?

Guy the A25 D is a nice looking model and great detail of hood and engine, when those first came out I grabbed two of them.
Keep the heavy equipment dioramas coming.

To be fair, it could be that early Volvo-BM dumper models were equipped that way:  I hope this helps. Guy

Looking through the Volvo Construction Equipment website for old BM models, I couldn't find the arrangement reproduced by Joal on their A25. Here is the Volvo-BM A25 history page: https://www.volvoce.com/global/en/product-archive/articulated-haulers/volvo-bm/a25-6x6/Brochures available on that page all show a front ram tipping architecture (even on the lighter A20 or the 4x4 version of the A25). That was apparently changed to 2 side rams on the A35. Link to Regards. Guy

After googling it,I found lots of images of the Joal,with body raised.I now know what it is.I have only seen that arrangement,on an older 860TC machine,with the hydraulic that low.Surely,it would get damaged,there? It would make sense it was changed,by Volvo.Love that Volvo archive section.Spend way too long,looking at old Akerman machines!LOL.

I posted sometimes ago in this topic a Matchbox/Dinky Toys Mack B61 6x4 tractor being prepared to tow a modified Corgi Toys Fruehauf bottom dump 2-axle semi-trailer. Steve - "Exkvate3140" - sent me some pictures of a B61 from the same origin he had modified into a ten-wheel dump truck. I thought that it was worth showing it here for the benefit of our fellow visitors, as this truck was a real success in the US and widely exported overseas:    Regards. Guy

Guy thanks for posting my B-61 ten wheel dump, they where a staple in the New England states in the 60’s and 70’s as construction trucks. You mentioned that you were modifying yours for a bottom dump, we had a few bottom dumps around our area but they were pulled by B-81’s. We had a gravel bank behind my house growing up and the company had 6 B-61 ten wheel dumps and 2 DM-800 ten wheelers and his dump trailers were pulled by R model tractors.
Your Athearn Fords look good, they are actually well detailed models. I will email you some pictures of the B-81’s pulling the bottom dumps.
