Another example is that refuse collection truck, produced by the French company JRD in the sixties, being modified:   Berliet GAK 65 4x2/2 truck fitted with a Genève Vorax refuse body   It was fitted with Lion Toys wheels all round, rear mudguards, hydraulic rams raising its body, rear axle shaft and transmission, cab interior, etc. It now requires a new coat of paint. That 6x4 looks great.Was it originally blue?Do you know what trailer it pulled?I always thought it was a Mack truck,but you can clearly see the Ford lines,in that cab.Looks good pulling that tanker.

Guy thanks for all the information, that Ford is gonna be nice and for some reason cabovers look great with tankers.
I never got any Dinky or Corgi toys when I was young, mainly Tonka and Buddy L, and they got worn out so I never saved any.

I think that it was originally paired with an "out-of-scale" Express Service 2-axle box trailer with sliding doors, like this one currently for sale on e...:   I hope it helps. Guy

I can vaguely remember it now.That express service trailer,looks hideous.The truck looks much better as 6x4,with tanker.I remember Matchbox made an eight wheel Scammell box truck,with sliding doors.I saw lots of Scammell tippers,on the road at that time,in the 80's though,so was never interested in a box truck.

Love those Fords! That's the "H" series. If you look closely, it's the "C" series cab, raised up. The original wheelwells are visible behind and above the front wheels. I had the Corgi wrecker, wish I still did.

Agreed. At that time, these 2 brands could be found on any French working site.
Interesting to see that they both disappeared in the seventies, one bought out in 1974 by Case and the other one absorbed in Renault Vehicles Industriels in 1978/80.

Loading by Brame of a mining equipment in Colmar (France) Liebherr plant to Strasbourg (France) Rhine inland harbor for export via Rotterdam (Holland):     Scania R164G-T580 8x4/4 tow truck fitted with a sheeted ballast box (IMC model) and Nicolas 9-line modular trailer (made from 3 Corgi modules) loading a 106.5 tonnes Liebherr 9100 tracked excavator (Conrad model). Guy nice looking heavy hauler. The Fords from Athearn are very nice models in my mind, I have a couple of them I turned into form trucks that the foundation contractors still use in the northeast and usually the name of their company is done in magic marker on cardboard that is taped onto the doors.
