Paul, I shot that Ashley Liebherr LTM 1800 with backmast in Aberdeen harbor (Scotland) late nineties:  I don't think that Ashley exist any longer: do you know where has this crane gone? Regards. Guy

Paul, Don't search for the crane new assignment anymore: I found 2 other pictures of it shot on the same day at the same place, which "clearly" show a "S 545 MRS" plate:   Same plate than the Baldwins crane modeled by YCC: the Ashley crane has gone to Baldwins! Regards. Guy

Thanks for posting those pictures! The crane is always magnificent when it's fully built up, and even without the luffing jib. That Ashley livery is great, and unfortunate that it ended up being the primer for Baldwins' (bland) livery.
When I first saw the color, I was expecting to see "Seaforth" on the side. I had the privilege of seeing a 1:50 version of the Seaforth rig, and I think there may be a picture, or two, of it floating around the interwebs. Do you have any pictures of the 1:1?

Thanks for those great photos and it has answered my main question.
So I think Ashley’s > Seaforth > Port Services(?) > Baldwin’s. This would be Baldwin’s 2nd LTM1800 with the first one being sold to Sarens in 2002 I think.
The Derrick for Baldwin’s still shows the old Ashley colours if you look close.

Paul, Going through my files, I found out that Baldwins had several LTM 1800: 1- generation 1 carrier cab-type: - J 957 TCF, - P 995 MTF, - another(?) 1800 rigged as a 11000 crane    2- generation 2 carrier cab-type: -S 545 MRS (ex-Ashley)  Top 2 pictures are issued from "Heavy Haulage & Abnormal Loads" books - D. Lee. Bottom ones were shot by me in Aberdeen harbor at the turn of the century. I don't have any picture of the ex-Ashley crane in Seaforth livery before it went to Baldwins, sorry. That’s really great Guy. I think that Baldwin’s had one of the first, if not the first LTM11000D?

I think that the LTM 11000D - with its derrick arrangement - was originally a pure Baldwins "upgrade", as it was never listed by Liebherr in their range, with only standard LTM 1800 and LG 1550 cranes being offered.

Guy So would that mean that the YCC Baldwin's LTM 11000D die cast model is really the same as the LTM 1800? Probably should have asked Paul R that question as well (since he has the actual model). lol Don

Yes it is. The LTM 11000D is more of a marketing thing but Baldwins were not the only ones to use this nomenclature.

Paul R Paul is right: other craneage companies have used the LTM 11000 "name" for the boom/derrick combination crane, such as Ainscough, Sarens, Anthony Crane Inc., just to name a few:  But for Liebherr that was still a LTM 1800 with a maximum load moment increased by 58.4% (4356Tm versus 2750Tm). Those sheaves,on the boom-heads,what material are they?Is it an upgrade/improvement from the standard grey ones from Conrad?Is it just for that particular model?Do you plan on replacing them,with brass ones?They look better.

Paul how long did it take you to rig that crane up, that is a very good looking and huge model. I’m a dirt guy myself but I had to comment on this model. The colors pull you in, then you look closely at it and it has some great detail. Nice job setting it up and displaying it in action.

Steve All in I’d say about 4hrs. An hour to do the A frame and about the same for the hook. Walkways can be a little fiddly also so take a bit of time. Paul R

Hi Paul, I'm loving that Sarens Demag. That orange and blue livery really stands out. I'm so far behind in models, I really need to get my Sarens Liebherr LR1600 set up. Thanks so much for sharing, take care and all the best.
