I've been following this topic for a long time, very impressive model ! Awesome job to build this all on your own. Now I read you plan to paint it in Sarens colours... will look good without doubt, but to my knowledge Sarens never had an LTM 1800 with the old style carrier. Sarens has (had) 3 LG(D) 1550s, which can be seen on the Dutch forum here: http://www.bouwmachineforum.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=4870&start=80 on page 9 and 10, and one LTM 1800 the ex-Baldwins, with the new style carrier.

Personally the Sarens scheme did always seem dull to me even if it is well known blue and white MAXIM nice too !

You are right and on top of that my scale model has a quick-connection and comes closest to the ex-Ringen LG1550. But since the conventional and the telescopic booms can easily be exchanged I can take the liberty of using the Sarens colors. Especially with the derrick mast in yellow it is a stunning sight. kerst http://forums.dhsdiecast.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1096251

kerst I have to agree on that - even in the dark, like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue25PsjYMg0&feature=related Even though it's simply following the Sarens colour scheme, it's still unique... because the whole idea of a telescopic crane with A-boom and derrick is unique

Whatever colors or logo you paint it's going to be impressive. The crane a work of mechanical art.

Most of the painting is done. It took a long time, partly due to lack of time, but also to the bad weather. I did all the spraying on a bench outside and although it was covered the wind and the rain had free play. I re-assembled the carrier and the upper, but I still need to do all the warning stripes. Overall I am very happy with the colors. I found the RAL codes of the Sarens colors and managed to find a US company that made spray paints according to the RAL colors and they are correct. After my vacation I will finish all the detailing. Kerst http://forums.dhsdiecast.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1096251

Progress is slow; it is just too hot in my workshop and too many distractions, but I did make some progress. The outriggers are ready, the boom is ready and next is the are the windows for the cabs, then i will put it all together and see if it still works.
