jibtickler was very kind to send me the measurements of the block and I got it almost right. the block itself is a bit too high/long, so I am going to fix that. Kerst http://forums.dhsdiecast.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1096251

For once I have the feeling that I made a lot of progress. I glued the 4 boom sections together and i am quite happy with the result. As you can see there is still lots to do. Kerst http://forums.dhsdiecast.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1096251

I always and consistently amazed by this project! Another great step forward. My only regret is that you are not from this side of the pond so I won't get to see it at Modelleshow Europe.

(I'm sure you will), keep us posted on how it handles the weight. Are you going to try a weight test ?

Wow, that's a huge update. How close to the real thing will your extension and retraction devices work? Will they use hydraulics? Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Rowan. I am going to use a spindle (electric motor plus screw thread) to extend the boom. I am not sure yet whether I am going to use 1 or 2 spindles. Kerst http://forums.dhsdiecast.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1096251

Hi Kerst,
Just amazing work. I like the way you have floded your boom sections. I might look at doing my next crane boom in a similiar way. Will your boom be pinned in the way as the full size, 0%-50%-100%?? If so how will you operate it??
Again very nice engineering and a lovely crane.
Best Regards
Trev.
