As far as I know, Liebherr was the only container handling equipment manufacturer to built one model with a curved telescopic boom:

Liebherr LRS 645 4x2/2 Reachstacker with a curved telescopic boom (NZG model) and equipped with a 20 to 40ft Liebherr container telescopic handling frame (modified NZG element), handling a 40ft CEC maritime container (NZG model),

Guy: How about explaining the operation of this truck. That crane takes up a great deal of space yet the surface of the flatbed is rather small. What would be the capacity of the crane and the truck? It just looks odd. CAW

Craig,

Such 6x4 trucks have in France (and Monaco) a GVW of 26 tonnes minimum.
The Renault Kerax truck itself being 9.115T empty and the PK 53002 SH Palfinger knuckleboom crane topping at 4.145T, that leaves to the flatbed body a total of 12.74T to be within road limits: not a lot, I agree, but sufficient in most cases.

I hope it helps.
