Chuck: How many color variations of the Gradall XL5200 were done by your man in Canada? I remember the Iowa orange, the white Dept of Transportation for Ohio, and the red Forestry version. Any others? CAW

I know the XL5100 and the XL5200 both came in the Gradall yellow (like a brown mustard color) and a blueish almost slate gray. Any other color would be a custom color applied by the model owner.

Does anyone know how many of each custom painted Gradall were done by Steel City? I can see by the last auction that they have become quite collectible.

In fact Gradall didn't change to the grey color scheme until years after RH had these models produced. At one point, SSC in Ontario was commissioned to do some custom repaints due to customer demand. I believe this may be another commissioned GS repaint?

There was also a Kokosing tracked version. I've never seen the wheeled verison painted, just OEM colors.
If I can recall, maybe only 10 were done of each? I know there isn't many, hopefully Chuck or Mr. Hiram can elaborate!!

If I remember right, it was the 5100 that got me into 1:50. As a youngin', I was very fond of the 1:64 farm and construction equipment, but after buying the 5100 at a county fair in PA in the early 90's, I was hooked! I've been waiting for someone to produce some newer versions in the 'new' color schemes.

When Greg painted the 5200 Gradall for me way back when ,He only painted i believe 12 of each color,I had them at Brandons show for the first time and sold out quickly.White and Iowa.A few others were painted by another person in red .There was another painted white and green with a shamrock on it .This was just an overcoat with the bottom still yellow.

George Hiram, I really like the XL5100 Gradall I have!! I got it in 1999 from a now defunct company that was named Type III Sales. I was always interested in the Gradall machines from when I was a child, I saw many from the local highway departments and saw many when I went to work with my late brother. I also had a Matchbox version of a Gradall!! I'm really impressed with the XL5100 as a whole even though I've had a couple minor things that I was able to fix quite easily. Thank you again for such an awesome model!!

I can't get enough of them. They make a perfect load on a lowboy. I too have a couple still in their boxes. I also have two color models that I will be buried with. Looking now for the white one. George: The hurricane Debbie just rolled through North Carolina. Unbelievable rain> If you have never been in a hurricane, thank your lucky stars. CAW

We definitely need more unique models like these, instead of companies like ******ntinually churning out the same dozers and mining equipment continuously!
