Hi folks,
I hope you're all keeping well in these trying times. I've not been up to much on the model front for quite a long time, and we're in the process of moving house so my cranes are all boxed up. I've always been interested in 1/32 farm models so I figured now would be a great time to give them a try, and I'm glad I did - these things are incredible.

The detail and finish quality on both models is better than anything I've ever encountered in 1:50. It's just incredible. The plough has a lot of plastic in it, but it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy, and the hydraulics are all modelled with brass fixings. Amazingly, the plough functions just like the real thing and swivels from side to side, and the back three furrows can be raised and lowered independently via two small rams at the wheels. The sharpness of the graphics at that size is mind-blowing.

Together the models measure about 50cm, so they're pretty small compared to a large 1:50 crane, and also a lot cheaper!

Those look great! I stopped collecting 1:32 models many years ago but still keep up with what’s out there.

Very nice! I have some 1:32 farm models, but mainly of the biggest tractors. This Challenger by USK models is rather nice, and the price has been as low as £30 which for what you get is incredible. Now the price has risen but you can still get the 875E tracked version for £35, and it has working LED lights!

I have to add this pic too - my Siku Unimog in 1:32 scale, modified.

Thanks Paul and Jamie! I think I'm probably in a similar boat when it comes to liking the larger machines (same with excavators and cranes). I was very keen to get a Fendt 1050 but the 939 was cheaper and IMO looks better because of the wheel weights.

That Siku Unimog looks fantastic - you've really done a great job of it. I was crazy about Siku toys back in the early 90s, and I believe they are still among the best quality "toys", although not quite in the realm of replicas. I chose to buy Wiking after reading many reviews and watching many videos, and I'm not disappointed!

Speaking of big, I do have some 1:16 models still including the Big Bud 747, Versatile 1156 and a couple of Knudsens. Also have the Big Bud 747 in 1:32.

Crikey Paul - the Big Bud in 1:16 must have a room all to itself!

Wow, those look great. The functionality of the plough (plow?) is incredible, in addition to the level of detail. Thanks for sharing!

Paul, I too managed to get the Big Bud 747 - it's a beast. I remember I was close to buying yours on Ebay a few years ago. I'd love a Versatile Big Roy in 1:16, but may never find one. Here's the big bud -

Jamie that 747 looks impressive; great photo!

@JohnGalt, yes - Universal Hobbies does a great job of packing functionality into a relatively small model. Amazingly it doesn't feel like it would break, despite the size of the parts. And "plough" is the convoluted British spelling of plow... because why use one letter when you can use three?! Here's a photo of the underside, showing the linkage for the rear 3 furrows. This level of detail and functionality in an off-the-shelf model is quite something.

Yeah Jamie it really is something else, although it has been discontinued for a while I believe. I got lucky as one came up on ebay and went reasonably cheap at just under £60... the nest most recent one sold in November for £110 and they don't seem to come up all that often. I think that the plough is mostly made of plastic, however given the detail and quality I have no qualms with that. It's a stunning display piece with the versatility to be displayed in various poses and would pair well with any large tractor.

Yes I immediately went onto Ebay to have a look - couldn't find any! Some of the Weise/Wiking/Replicagri/UH implements coming out are brilliant. Just bought a Volmer VST300 silage dozer blade to be used on a 1:50 dozer model. Nice looking piece. Pics to follow
