Beautiful models. That Berliet though, phew, what a good looking truck.I love that cab style.Very similar to many trucks, around that time. That is the first truck I have seen with the graphics continuing onto the roof of the trailer.

modelmaniac,

The Berliet tractor was a TR350 Centaure, built from a standard Berliet KB2400 cab, fitted with a high roof: https://www.fondationberliet.org/ressources-documentaires/archive-article-dossier-camion-berliet/berliet-centaure-tr350/
That was at that time (late 70s) probably the first European truck to allow the driver to stand in the cab with no problem.
That move resulted in the Renault AE truck (to become later the Magnum) some 10 years later, with a totally flat floor above the engine: https://www.fondationberliet.org/ressources-documentaires/galerie/renault-rvi-ae-magnum/

I hope this helps.

Just saying that I vaguely remember the Berliet cab looks a lot like the Ford transcontinental, and Renault cabs around that era.I am probably out by a decade,or two though!Good to know,it's the first 'standing room' cab.I do remember having a technical drawing of the Renault Magnum,in design stage,in a truck book.At the time,I thought, its basically two boxes,no aerodynamics,it will never be produced. Now I still see them,on the road.LOL.

modelmaniac,

The Ford Transcontinental had almost the same cab than the Berliet TR, as Ford bought the KB2400 cab from Berliet for their truck. Only the lower part of it was modified to accommodate the higher Cummins engine installed on Transcontis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Transcontinental

I agree with you, Renault AE and Magnum aerodynamics are far from being optimized: that's probably the price to pay to get the largest possible volume in constrained dimensions.

Didn't know that, about Ford buying cabs from Berliet.I always thought,it was the other way round,as Ford is such a global brand. When it comes to designing a truck cab, depending on what the truck is for,the aerodynamics are secondary, driver comfort always comes first.
