Sensational pictures Ken. The B-Mack is still a great looking, heavy duty truck. I always keep a few models around. CRaig

I just noticed that in the last picture, the Mack is off loading the dozer from a ferry. Talk about Intermodal!!! Must be in Rhode Island? CAW

Absolute a hammer, pic by pic. Thanks Ken.
I just got the MACK-fever since I decided that my MENCK shovels need a serious dump truck, so I went for the 6x6 version of the B813. Now I see these wonderful B-Models hauling landclearing CATs, probably it cant get any better!
Is it true that back in the day they refused to tie down these dozers? - if the dozer starts sliding down, it didnt tip over the whole low loader. Dont know if this is true, I once red it in a landclearing thread.
Thanks for sharing,
Max

Ken great shots of vintage rigs, I have to say first time I’ve ever seen a B81 with a sleeper. Thanks for posting the pictures. Steve
Q you might be correct, (which is never really said about you) that looks like the Block Island ferry that shoves off out of Point Judith in fact the Captain of that one likes to visit the pub for chowda and brews before he enters the wheel house so he could have wound up down under. It also looks like you loaded a couple of dozers on those trailers.

By looking at the picture, I think the driver is backing the "B" onto the ferry boat. I bet those cabs were super hot without air conditioning in Australia! I drove one in the 70's and it was terrible in the summer.

Thanks Max. By the looks of this type of trailer, the dozers were kind of "locked" in on the front. The first picture shows a pile of chains next to the jeep. Definatley stricter rules now a days on load securement than in the 70's. A couple of chains and good to go.

This is not an Australian B Mack still a good photo. Bob Knickerbocker , Dallas and Mavis agent at East Peoria, Il. provided this photo and I used it working with First Gear to do 1/34 scale and 1/25 scale replica B Makc lowboys.

So Uncle Roy, was this truck the inspiration for the Conrad Freightliner in Dallas Mavis livery?

But that scale is too big to collect many models. There is no room to store on display. Plus, resale is not good. The Allis Chalmers HD41 in 1/25 is by far the best model in that First Gear Series. Craig: Bob Knickerbocker was a friend of Arnold Brash at Talbert and got permission to do the 3 axle lowboy with Conrad . He also got permission to use the Dallas & Mavis logo on the trucks Conrad did. Bob got permission for me to use the D&M name when I did the 1/34 and 1/25 lowboys with First Gear. I resized the photo I did not realize it was so big.
