Steve,

I didn't do a lot on the W900: I think that the original 5th wheel, cast on the chassis by Norscot, was simply removed and replaced by a white metal one.
To be fair, Norscot trucks are not that bad, considering their price. Of course, they can't compare with TWH, Sword or even WSI american trucks in terms of level of detail, but they are robust and with some minor mods, they can be turned into interesting models.

For example, this upgraded Kenworth T2000 (shortened chassis at rear, new 5th wheel) with an East Trailers MMX5 (modified Sword model) in the Michigan State:

Or, that upgraded Peterbilt 379 EXHD (new 5th wheel) delivering a CAT product on its Trail King TK 110 HDG lowboy:

And if you are fed-up with their unavoidable Fruehauf box semi-trailers, you can always use them for 40' "Turnpike Doubles" (work in progress, here with International and Kenworth modified Corgi models). You just need to replace their "toyish" landing legs and the rear sliding door and they can become very acceptable 40' Fruehauf box units (the most difficult part being to get rid-off the side paper decals)

I have others which have been modified into UK Crane-Fruehauf units, with slightly heavier mods.

I hope it helps (to have you look at Norscot trucks models differently).

Guy thanks for the response. When you dress up the Norscots they look good.

My first 100% Chinese set, which, I must admit, completely seduced me. Lots of details on that model produced by ShangJia Models, in the livery of the DHL worldwide logistics company. The road combination, typical of Far-East equipment, can be easily compared to European models in terms of quality and details, even if one can regret its light weight (due to lot of plastic parts) and that some of these parts are very fragile (cyclist semi-trailer side protection bars for example):

Isuzu EXR 51E 4x2/2 tractor and 40' container carrier 2-axle semi-trailer of unknown brand, loaded with a 40' maritime container (ShangJia model).

a Van de Wetering B.V. combination, a Dutch heavy haulage company very much involved in boat transport throughout Europe:

Scania R620 6x4/2 tractor and 2-line Nooteboom Euro 48-02(P) modular semi-trailer with extendable ultra-low beams of adjustable width (NZG models), carrying a 45' motorboat of unknown brand (damaged Corgi load modified, to be repainted)

Guy the boat transport pictures are nice, like the way you ribbed the boat on the Lowbed.

MAN TGX 33-540 FDS 6x4/2 tractor and Goldhofer SPZ-DLA-46/80AAA 4-axle extendable flatbed semi-trailer (Conrad models) carrying a 20' maritime container and access platforms of a MAN B&W 18V48/60CR marine engine (Tekno model + Conrad parts):

Note: strangely enough, all my pictures, hosted by ImageShak in 800x600pxi size, are appearing in the recent weeks in various smaller sizes with no credible explanation.
Has anyone else experienced that problem?

A short trip to Scotland with William Nicol, an old transport company based in Aberdeen.

In the eighties:

Volvo F88 4x2/2 tractor + Boden 2-axle flatbed semi-trailer with a load of cut poplars of 31.6 tonnes. The whole outfit is a Corgi production.

To be continued.
