They call 4 axle trucks eight wheelers,or eight leggers.Even though,on this truck,there are 5 axles,the truck is still 10 wheel drive.Mean looking truck.I like it.

That’s pretty neat. But I gotta ask, why? All those tires, axels, extra moving parts, etc. for something that only hauls 150 ton? Seems kinda wasteful to me.
Are you an enviromentist, or do you work for a living?

JTL I can agree that it does not seem like alot of payload compared to a true dedicated off highway hauler. I think its mainly for smaller operations that dont have the infastructure or loading tools to support a much larger ( read higher height) truck.

It also probably does a heck of a lot more,than a bigger payload dumptruck,that can only be used for earthmoving.It can undoubtedly move other trailers.Where a conventional tractor cannot go.

Actually it should be a 10X16, 10 drive wheels and 16 total wheels.

Sorry, but I don't agree with you.
If the tractor has 5 powered(driven) axles, of which 2 are steered, then it should be called a 10x10/4, and I think that's the way of defining it around the world.

That's a sweet rig, I know they use them a lot in northern Labrador for hauling iron ore with side dump b-trains. As far as what to call it I'd say it's a tandem or twin steering tridem tractor unit with I'm guessing planetary drive hubs for all wheel drive. I've seen this axle set up less the planetary hubs before with a local precast company that hauls fairly large septic tanks and precast wall blocks with it, same with a couple foundation forming companies.

On anther note, this looks awesome! https://youtu.be/C5GzK2wUudMIt's a collaboration between dramis and simard suspension systems, it's supposedly able to haul 55 metric tons. With the new SPIF regulations in Ontario I wouldn't be suprised to see on-road versions of this truck to haul 25 tons.

Dramis International, Simard Suspensions Off Road department, presents its new mining truck, the D150T, imagined, designed, manufactured and assembled by our teams.
The Dramis D150T meets point by point the specifications imposed by the driving conditions of the truck:
The truck must haul 150 metric tons of Gold ore over a distance of 144 kms back and forth, on a road made of crushed rocks with 8% slopes and also has to cruise at 50 km/h loaded.
The D150T operates in a mine located in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut, Canada’s Great North, where temperatures can drop below 45 degrees Celsius.
