The Cat 994K has just been announced, with a commercial release in the first quarter of 2016. It's not simply a new 994 version, Cat new flagship loader could have been called 995K because it is significantly greater than the current 994H : 45tons standard bucket capacity (+18%) ; 237,200 kg operating weight (+42t) ; 1847 Hp gross power (vs 1577 Hp). http://www.mining.com/web/new-cat-994k-wheel-loader-features-increased-payload-power-and-productivity-and-lower-cost-per-ton-2/  Florian

Thanks for the heads up. I don't like the looks of it very much. The propotions just seem off.
The brochure's also already available at Cats website.
What I'm really wondering about is why it's run by a 3516E? Aren't the C175s any good?

Size comparison shot I swiped from the video. It's a bit bigger than the 994. I always though the big loaders looked funny because it required so much machine the move the size bucket it's given.

I think Tonkin could handle this challenge. I certainly couldn't handle a CCM price tag if they produced it.

certainly is a jump up in size and well deserving of a "995K" sales model name IMO as it jumps ahead of the WA1200 in spec's
in other news I did hear a wild rumour of a WA1600 and even WA1800 in the works which will be something to see!

Well it really needed to get in the WA1200 size to compete better, lots of lost sales to that machine so counterpunch. It looks a little odd with no front fenders like we have been used to forever and whats the bet some mine down here will have to have handrails all over the hood "cos we always have" when there is nothing to go out there and do now.

Yeah I didn't wanna pipe in but Gavs right (As always) the WA1200 here out performs the 994H. Well the guys loading the 'Bin' prefer the Komatsu. It even out performs the L1850 in the pit (It runs longer as well) Cannot find much info on the 994K, C175? Edit: Yeah no fenders. No lighting package as well. Must be a fair weather unit.

Still has some development in front of it before commercial release so might get those things at some point Ross. The C175 never made it into it, it has a new generation 3516E series engine.

Cat must have satisfied EPA enough with the very successful ACERT's to be granted more 35's. It's shame it's a year or two behind, don't think we will see one here but the other operations might bite when it's released. I wonder if the other 'Major players' will release another unit to try and edge this loader out some? Haven't heard much from LeT since P&H took over mmm.

I was also surprised at the use of the 3516 power plant.Regarding tyres,the 994K prototype is using 58/85-57 tyres but there is no indication as to what the other options are, in this specalog below http://s7d2.scene7.com/is/content/Caterpillar/C10337952. I would assume either 60/80-57 or possibly even the 65/65-57 sizes could also be utilised on this 240 tonner.I am sure a larger loader than the WA1200-6 is possible and it shouldn't really have any engineering constraints regarding the availability of suitable size tyres. The L-2350( 270 tonne} is the only loader that currently has it's own "custom made" tyre size- the 70/70-57, which could also be utilised on a larger Komatsu loader if required.

The three big mechanical loaders here run the same size tire according to the KAL tire boys. The L1850 runs a slightly wider tire with Pewag Chains allround.

I'd like to see the 994K with detail like the L1850 safety walk way chains real fold down ladder as in the OP pic fire suppression system price range same as the L1850 was. wheel chocks i use the triangle foam that's in the packs printer ink cartridges (paint yellow or red) work perfect  .

About time Cat upsized the 994 to match the WA1200. The big komatsu will finally have some competition on its hands. Hopefully they make some D-lug tyres for this machine as those radials are freaking hopeless on 1850's and WA1200's.
