I really like the Sarens setup, although the Australian mining haulage convoy is also impressive. Good to see how you make these models come alive.

Hi Paul, thanks so much for the compliment and great to hear from you. I was so happy to see the Wagenborg Nedlift livery expand and this Tadano heavy crane is a gem. Maybe it's the red and white that matches the Canadian flag that does it for me. LOL!

A bevy of heavy haulage with two Tonkin Nicolas Tractomas pulling 40 axle lines of NZG Felbermayr SPMTs. The load is the NZG Mt Arthur Coal Liebherr 994 shovel. Accessories include WSI ballast boxes, Conrad Australian Figures, NZG T5 utility truck, NZG Unimog utility truck, YCC crane mats, YCC shackle and Sword hooks and chains. It would be great if I could come up with a system for binding the chains to take more of the slack out of them. Definitely like the Canadian colours on that crane. If there is a red and white "ALL" crane at Imcats it might find it's way back to Canada. The company I would for hires All Canada to load, unload and place generator enclosures.
Yes I own a lot of Norscot Cat models they remind me of my many good years working for a Cat Dealer. Going out to the back forty after work playing with used equipment just moving dirt around

CY, I really like your neat displays and I'm always wondering how you keep them away from dust (display cases I assume). Really like the custom heavy haulage displays you make and your attention to details (like the weathered cable reels, the chains setups, characters...). Nice stuff, keep posting pics; they're always a delight. Stephane

Great shots again Chandler. Makes me wish I still collected mining equipment! I use staples to take out the slack in chains. The excess chain can be used to wrap around the staple to hide it a little: Paul R

Might be a little overkill with the SPMT though.

The owner of RB Models is very helpful and receptive and the detail of the fine brass is amazing. Take care and all the best.

Paul R Hi Paul, you must have had an amazing collection of mining models based on all of the rare and amazing pieces you have with heavy haulage and heavy lift. It would be great if I was more focused in my collection, but I am sadly so varied which means I've had to pass on some really amazing models.

Nice stuff, keep posting pics; they're always a delight. Stephane Hi Stephane, great to hear from you. The battle of dust is always a fierce one. I don't have the manliest of solutions though as I find make-up brushes are ideal. They are very soft and the varied brush types help to access the various details found on models without damaging them. The duct tape on the larger paint brush isn't to simply masculinize the set up, it is to help when I'm cleaning the big Bucyrus 8750 dragline and reduce the potential to have any metal on metal contact which could damage the finish on the model. Brushes by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/> Display space is a premium, so although a couple of curio cabinets help to offset dust collection (but not eliminate it) I have a few floating shelves for larger displays. I generally take a museum approach and rotate through various displays. I take a shelf on the wall or the curio and set it up, then switch to something completely different. When I see a new model come out I automatically think about interesting poses and complimentary equipment and accessories for it. Like a museum though, unfortunately the bulk of my collection is stored away in their boxes. Glass Floating Shelving by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/> Floating glass shelves made from custom cut tempered glass on wall mounted brackets. The total capacity of the set up is 120 lbs per shelf which allows me to sleep a little easier at night knowing that a huge crash isn't pending. In this case the wall is actually a weight bearing concrete wall so it is mounted even more securely. The spacing is approximately 20 cm, 40 cm and 60 cm, but the beauty of this arrangement is that you can adjust the spacing to whatever you would like (under the measure twice drill once policy that is).

Robert Heuston wrote:Might be a little overkill with the SPMT though. Hi Robert, thanks for the comment. After they rolled off of the tempered glass there were some culverts that required a lower weight distribution. LOL! Good point, it is definitely more axles than you'd need for a move of an intermediate loading shovel. As well as the 2,000 ton capacity of the two Tractomas further adds to the overkill. Take care and all the best.

Hi Cdn Cat Power, the ALL Crane fleet is also very cool and I've seen them on some smaller construction projects and some larger highway construction projects locally. It would be awesome to have a scale model that hits closer to home. It would also be great if they commissioned a model or two and some Sword support trucks to go along with it. Take care and all the best.
