Codelco recently took delivery of a Komatsu PC8000-6 backhoe excavator for its Gabriel Mistral (known as Gaby) copper operations in north Chile. It runs with the fleet of Komatsu 930E-AT (autonomous) trucks. The exisiting fleet comprises Bucyrus 495HR shovels. To my knowlegde it is the world-only PC8000 backhoe at work since the Cerrejon units had been re-configured with face shovels attachments some years ago. http://www.region2.cl/pala-pc-8000-en-codelco-division-gabriela-mistral-pionera-en-el-mundo-en-cargar-camiones-autonomos/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v7MX10xJEE

Cracking photo, look at the bucket on that. Probably the only thing on the planet that will cut through the wife's cooking (runs and hides)

Good looking machine. 42m³, just about right to get something done in a day This is the first ever PC8000 backhoe in yellow, if I'm not mistaking.

awesome photo! I wonder how much a tooth on that bucket weighs... one thing I don't like about it is the short boom and stick. you would practically have to be on top of the truck to load it!

Short boom and stick is the whole point when it comes to truck loading. Better breakout force, more stable with the largest bucket that machine can take, and therefore better production. Proper bench set up and truck placement will eliminate any trouble with reaching the truck. If anything a longer stick makes it a bigger pain loading trucks when they are on the same level.

Cat 245.....Now and Forever I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.
