Hi all, this seems to have gone a bit quiet recently? Any news from the boys in the know? Did CAT rush to paint a Bucyrus product still in testing to media or is this ultra clans shovel class still a gamble? There was a great little 360 app on the site a while ago that I can't seem to find anymore. I've got no vested interest here however I would like to see a scale model built...... TWH?? Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

The 360 degree interior and exterior animations are still on the site.
If a model is produced, it won't come from TWH.

Maybe greasemonkey will chime in...I read that the 6120 was built by bucyrus before the cat buyout but can't remember where. Also before cat bought them they were planning on building their own line of mining excavators with the help of another manufacturer...anyone know who the other party was ? This all ended wben cat purchased bucyrus .

https://mining.cat.com/cda/layout?m=435123 Here's that 360. Before you could access the 360 from the regular site, now you need to go to the mining site.

This would be an amazing CCM piece. Out of my price range, but amazing.

The shovel was built by Bucyrus in Milwaukee before the Cat take over, and Cat painted the shovel in their colours. It actually wasn't Bucyrus in talks with anybody to build a hydraulic line, they got a hydraulic line when they bought Terex's Mining Division. It was Cat that was in talks with another manufacturer to build a hydraulic line with them.
I doubt we will see a model any time soon, since the project has been out on hold. Once the project is restarted, I'd say there's a good chance a model will be built. I'll throw my vote in for CCM to build it as well, and as long as it's part of their diecast line, I'd say the price will be competitive.

The pics look very model like in there own right........ In light of CCM doing the 6020B well before the real machine is released they obviously have a good rapore with the shovel group at Cat so a 6120B if i was a betting man would also be a CCM product should it be done in diecast. Cat put the 6120B program on hold a while back due to the downturn in mining, with less revenues coming in to the whole mining group at Cat they have less funds for R & D so things get put on the back burner, would be very surprised if this one does not come through in the next 3 years, mining will come back.

Brian, I don't know that it was ever made public, so I'm hesitant to publish it myself. But it's not likely that many people would have thought of this manufacturer as being a source for a hydraulic shovel in modern times. As for the question about whether Bucyrus built the shovel prototype before the Cat takeover, I do have one picture I can share of that. I have a few more, but Iwas asked to keep them to myself. This one, I can share, but it is a very poor picture......of another picture actually. I definitely think it looks better in yellow.

Oh no you didn't! The one at the factory is still sitting out back. She's still beautiful, hopefully they'll bring the program back. - C
