Great Lakes had one, it capsized and sank on October 5th, 1996 while on its way to Denmark. I believe these pictures are of a 5700, the body looks a bit smaller than other pictures, if you do a search up on either Dredge Chicago, or P&H 5700 dredge, there is some info on it.

How much larger than a 4100 is the 5700?

Something like this?

There is a pretty famous pic that i think P & H used to use in promos as when this shovel first started work they used to 1 pass load 777,s with it, then when they went up to 789,s they would be 2 passed and the current 793,s on site get 2 and a bit in them so she is probably swinging 90 ton a pass easy.

That "Miller Pohang" machine looks pretty crisp painted blue and white......
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them.
Anybody know where they went to work??

I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

That blue and white one looks very similar to Mount Thorely/Warkworths machine. I think a friend of mine sent me pics of it in shutdown a few yrs back.

I may be wrong but I think it is at the 'Coal and Allied' Hunter Valley Number 1. Now Rio Tinto Mount Thorley Operations.

Gav will know....

Yes, the white and blue and yellow XPA machine was the one at Rio Tinto' Mount Thorley Warkworth operations in NSW, Australia. Unfortunately, it has been replaced by a newer shovel (4100XPC) and has been definitely shutdown two months ago.

AS for the white, blue an red machine, that's a different story. This one was the very first 5700 and worked until 2003 or so, after having been reconfigured as a """standard""" loading shovel and relocated to the Ruffner coal mine in WV, USA. This machine suffered a boom failure and I wonder if it has been fixed after that. Is there someone who knows what happened and when it has been scrapped ?
