Sam If it arrives!!!!!!! been delayed till March, but when March comes I reckon it will be delayed till end of the year! and then at the end of the year it will be delayed till 2012!!!!! lol! The drivers where supposed to be on induction now but there still running around in there 500 liebherr. Ainscough have obviously been looking at jobs the crane can do but until we actually have the machine nothing has been confirmed. Gaz

more delays, sounds like Terex aren't quite sticking to their original timescale lol, i bet Ainscough are finding that quite annoying Sam

Personally I want to see the AC1000 enter service with us but rumors in the company is that it has been cancelled, we will just have to wait and see. Gaz

Does anyone one know when the model is suppose to be available? Might have to tap into my 31000 fund to pay for some but oh well. Can't wait to have the model setup with the 11200

i am stoked for this model or maybe two of them (lol)... looks really good ... i'm sure if terex-demag has their way the 1:1 machine will be building windmills soon ... next to the 31000 the new ac1000 is a close second on my list !!! i have read that it is expected in the third quarter of 2011 brandon ... larry

It shall be interesting to see when the real machine as well as when a model appears. Just hope that the model is not of a prototype with significant differences from the final production machine.
We shall have to see what happens with the real machine. Most interesting is that Terex did not list the AC 700 in their CONEXPO crane brochure. Yet Liebherr has announced that customer demand is such that they are engineering an LTM 1750-9.1 for late 2011 introduction.
Comments are correct in that those companies that are able to purchase new cranes are starting to do so. If and when things turn, we may see certain capacities in short supply.

Not eyepleasing at all in transit or with that wheel spacing setup !
Note:Wreckin drop trailer used a air system to get weight down when crossing bridges why can't they use something like that with mobile cranes ?

That is correct becuase a Dutch guy was talking about at BMF forum. The AC700 has been taken out complete.There by in stead they bring the AC1000. The only problem that i have and that was said a few months back, can the ac 1000 still able to lift 1200 ton or just 1000? By why take out the AC700? it is a great crane and for some jobs it is just big enough. Where the Ac1000 can't fit the AC700 will.

Until we see some AC 1000/9s in the field, the jury will remain out.
Each of the major manufacturers seems to be taking a slightly different path. Nothing still surpasses an easily mobilized, conservatively rated, reliable and well supported crane in any size class or type. Mobile cranes whether lattice truck, hydraulic truck, or today's all-terrains have alway been a balance of capacity versus mobility and that will never change in the higher capacity ratings.
The uniqueness of each local market will cause some machines to sell better than others in that market. This is driven by axle weights, gross weights and labor rules at organized firms in that market. It can even come down to dealer or pricing.
The larger Demag engineered all terrains - the AC 350, the AC500-1 and -2, and the AC 700 of which only the AC 500-2 remains were all solid machines though short on boom by todays standards. Terex has been doing a lot of catch up against Liebherr, Grove and even Tadano Faun in the smaller sized all-terrains as well.

As an operator of both the AC 700 and the AC 500-2, it's interesting to note that based on the capacity charts, the AC 500-2, in some areas, has better charts than the larger AC 700. For instance, for windmill work on luffing jib, with approx. 149' of main and 157 of luffer + SSL for both machines, the AC 500-2 offers a higher capacity than the AC 700 (117000 lbs compared to 104 000 lbs @ 85'). Although, for shear lifting strength the AC 700 will clearly lift more up close, the AC 500-2 can out perform the AC 700. The company I work for found that they had more use for the AC 500-2 than the AC 700. Foot print was always an issue. The AC700, with a footprint of 40' X 40' + mats, was simply too big to fit on most sites compared to the AC 500-2 with a foot print of 32' X 32' + mats. With the AC 500-2 keeping up in the charts in a lot of areas with the AC 700, it made sense to part with the larger AC 700. It's interesting to sit down and crunch the numbers. The larger cranes are not always the better ones, depending on the scope of the work.
This may be why Terex has discontinued the AC 700 while keeping the AC 500-2. Perhaps they feel the AC 500-2 can fill the gap to the AC 1000. Remember a 700 ton crane will rarely ever lift 700 tons in it's life! It's more important to focus on what it can realistically do.
