Even if the LeMarechal Titan VS 8x8/4 was not built by one of the 2 truck manufacturers selected, that French heavy haulage unit was there, may be because of its Renault cab (model of unknown origin): To be continued. Guy

The Berliet GXO 6x6/2 above was only built with an oilfield body and never existed in that tractor version, other than in Berliet project drawings. It has nevertheless been modelled by Miniatures du Faubourg in a 1:50 scale. To be continued. Guy

As far as truck loading cranes are concerned, North American and European approaches are drastically different. In the US, a Perterbilt 357 6x4/2 flatbed truck fitted with a National Crane 1300H crane, carrying a 2-man basket which can be pinned at boom head (TWH model): To be continued. Guy

In Europe, knuckleboom cranes are the norm and most of them can be folded within the width of the vehicle: MAN TGA 41-480 8x4/4 truck with dropside body and Palfinger PK 100002 Performance D knuckleboom crane (Conrad model in Felbermayr livery) It should be noted that both cranes have a broadly equivalent capacity (40.8Tm and 62.5Tm respectively), with 27.2 tonnes @ 1.5 metres for the National, while the slightly more powerful Palfinger can lift 25 tonnes at 2.5 metres. Hot tar distribution combination made by CEJ in SCR livery (Societe Chimique de la Route, a French civil engineering company): Renault VI R340 4x2/2 tractor + 2-axle Rincheval/Fruehauf France hot tar distribution semi-trailer: While the tanker semi-trailer has been correctly modelled in a 1:50 scale, strangely enough CEJ selected the 1:55 scale for its tractor!!! The one being the closest to the original Siku model (only its knuckleboom crane was modified) is a Mercedes-Benz Atego 1629KN 4x2/2 with Meiller tipping body and Palfinger PK 11502 crane (modified Siku model) loaded with 6 pallets of bricks (WSI elements): Mercedes-Benz Atego 1624KN 4x2/2 with dropside body (modified Siku model with Lion Toys body) carrying 23 road signal/partition blocks Sodirel Symos (Siku loads). The intention is to build a body rear-corner light capacity Hiab loading crane, replaced for the picture by a Siku crane section: To be continued. Guy
