It's quite obvious they aren't listening. It will cost them more to keep those stupid operators in the models than to scrap the plan. Cat22Fan wrote:I have to give Diecast Masters credit. After checking, some items with operator are fixed and some are removable. Some items with fixed door and some can be opened.

Here's a thought: Caterpillar is the true customer of Diecast Masters, not the collector market, the figures in the cab, could be at the request of Caterpillar. However, with that said, Caterpillar might be interested in what the collector market has to say.

I think there is a awful lot of griping going on over a feature some of us asked for all the time. It's not that big of a deal. I think it's a cool addition.

I think the operator is a cool addition, just a gripe that they do look kind of funny. If some guys don't like them-they have to come out because there was only one way they got in there!

Randy: You are right again. Caterpillar could make the decision. So how do they listen to us? Does a CAT rep read the Forum. Does it take someone like Chuck to speak out. I simply hate the figures. They kill the model and make it look like a toy for kids. We've collected models for decades without figures in them. On an idle construction site, how often do you see men sitting in the equipment? Even if part of the equipment was being used, the other part would be idle with those goofy men sitting in there. Unless they make opening doors and make real looking men, I wouldn't buy a single piece from this line. I know some would and that's okay. I doubt the higher quality makers would do this. CAW

Take the stupid model apart and remove the goofy looking figures if you don't like them!!! Man built it, man can fix it.
I don't think I've heard so much crying about anything since the last time I walked into a baby nursery. Some of you would cry if you had your fingers smashed with a gold hammer!!!

Where was all the bitching when Conrad put operators in some of their 9800 mining shovels? Good God man...let it go. A company finally appears to be making decent models in an overall good price range and what do we do??? We bitch about a stupid figure. Take it apart and remove it if you don't like it.
Oh and let's not forget the people complaining about a blade on the 335F....you know, because they decided to randomly throw one on in the design phase :/

Those were only the Quarry Diecast commissioned models that got the operators in them.

I think you guys may be missing the big picture here. We now have a company making Caterpillar models that has the money to build stock, develop new models, and try a few new things along the way. From what I've heard, the packaging is a real game changer as well. I can understand why an operator would be out of place at times, but overall I think the models look really good. The amazing part is they will have nearly 100 items available in the range by the end of this year.

I agree gstoddard, If the paint was to thin, people would be complaining about not being thick enough, just like people are complaining about the paint being too thick, or having operators in the cab. I am not totally thrilled with the operators in the cabs but I can look past that and I realize some can't. I could be wrong, but looks like Diecast Masters so far will have a decent from the ground up model program. Remember, the Cat 390F, the Cat 420F IT, and the Cat 335F were to be released by either Norscot or Tonkin. I look at it this way, if you don't like them, don't buy them. No one is twisting your arm to spend your money on them. I understand everyone has an opinion and I respect that, but like I said if you don't like them, don't buy them. Plain and simple. Don't bash the company just yet, we haven't even seen them in hand, give Diecast Masters a chance.

I think having the operators in the cabs will make the dios look more realistic and it will only look weird when used as a transport load. I can get over that. I'm preordering a Cat 335F and I can't wait for it to show up! Great price and quality and a huge selection of nicer car models then Norscot or Tonkin ever made. I am very excited to see what Diecast Masters has in store and I can't wait to get my 335F!

Talking of Cranes etc the video of the toy fair is online now and he says that the figures in some models will be removeable!
Also both the underground dumper and loader both have working lighting!

I like the looks of the 335! Not an underground guy by any means, but that loader is pretty sweet looking as well. I'm gonna have to get a couple of those 335's and put the processor heads of my Ertl 2954's on them
