I am drooling at you guys from Oz having all this big mining stuff and the icing on the cake of the Cat 797F. Over the past 6 years I have had the good fortune to see(and in some cases even sit in) a Sarens TC3200, Mammoet LTM11200, LTM1500, AC500 plus all the support trucks, Port Services TC2800, an 8000t offshore module being unloaded with 6 rows of spmt etc, etc But, and the crane fans may call me crazy here, I'd swap(ok, very tempted) it all to see a working Cat 797B/F

Yeh, I guess I am and I'm dreaming of what I might see in the next 2-3 years because there's a new £500 million offshore gas plant/project being built here Mind you, when the time comes if any of our Austrailan friends could get me some nice(camera steady!) dvd footage of a 797F at work then I have some nice dvd footage of the stuff mentioned above that I could give them a copy of in exchange.....

Don,t start this crane crap on this thread, they are only good for putting large bits of yellow iron together and then the real action starts on site. As a side note 2 of the 797F,s being assembled in Rockhampton are halfway up the wheels in water as the dealership has gone under from the floods there. Here is a link to a pic. http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/photos/galleries/aerial-view-rockhampton-flood-03-jan/#num=8&id=aerial-view-rockhampton-flood-03-jan Image 8 shows the 797F,s.

Brian Ha, ha!. Yes some on the lift side might even call it sacrilage , but then I'm half lift side myself so I don't know where that leaves me That's a bit of a sorry picture seeing the 797Fs half submerged and the dump bodies all but submerged

What about the other parts in the cases etc you cannot see under the water usually around the assembly area.
How water tight is the transmission??????
Some rebuilds on new components coming up I think.

Yeah, i reckon some of the manifest will be a bit light on, back in 2008 when there yard flooded they had a croc in the car park!!
It looks like the water would be just lapping at the bottom of critical components so as long as it does not rise any more it should be OK, Few oil samples and maybe change some oil and fire them straight up. I bet the boys were out there with the nitrogen kits gassing the struts to max height!!
Rockhampton is HD,s engine rebuild shop and it looks like we may get some more work now!!

The wet 797F's in Rockhampton are far from the worst of their problems at the moment, those waters won't subside for weeks. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Just a small question about the truck on the first pics, will this one be equipped with some kind of autonomous haulage system? Think I had seen similar additions on an autonomous Komatsu.... My videos of construction and mining machines at work on Youtube

Out of curiosity... when you said the dealer had "gone under" due to the water, do you mean that it went bankrupt or that it was also submerged?
