I've had very little time or money to do any modelmaking, but I have managed to sort out some nice metal tracks for a Poclain 350, and a modified Altaya vintage Poclain excavator. This came mounted on the back of a truck, but my intention was always to add a track frame. Although it's technically 1:43 scale, I think it looks good and passes as a 1:50 model.

Jamiescotland,

Nice mods of the Altaya Renault/Poclain 1/43 outfit: I wonder how it now compares with the Corgi Toys Priestman shovel.

Poclain 350: Very nice, congratulations. Where did you get the tracks?

Thanks! The 350 tracks are from the Ertl Deere 450D - they come up for sale on Ebay sometimes at cheap prices. The other Poclain tracks are from Joal's Komatsu 155 dozer, another cheap donor model that can be found on Ebay sometimes.
Maybe I'll buy another Altaya Poclain and turn it into a shovel or cable hoe - good idea!

Here in the UK, we have the Vintage Excavator Trust, based in an old quarry in England. They have lots of very nice old shovels, bulldozers, excavators and dump trucks. No Poclains though... yet!!! I'll be going to their open day again in September. It's brilliant if you like old machines.
