I recently acquired an M1000 trailer from the recent DHS auction. When I received it, I noticed that there was a shiny gummy appearance on the rims. Upon closer inspection I could tell that the rims were soft and they would conform to pressure from external sources. I tried to remove the tires but they were stuck completely upon the rims. I knew something wasn't right, so I used pliers which did tear the tire off, but there is definitely a chemical reaction going on between the rubber and plastic. This had me quite concerned, so I checked my tan trailer, and indeed the same thing was happening just not as bad. I was able to remove the tires on the tan trailer by hand still. So what should I use to create a permanent barrier between the rubber and plastic? Is there a way to completely prevent this? Thanks to those who assist!

I'm thinking there might be 3 possible fixes for this issue.

1) you can try using a clear nail polish or jewelry stuff similar to nail polish. The jewelry stuff is used to brush on rings to keep the ring from discoloring your finger. I got some HERE

2) use a small piece of plastic wrap as a barrier over the wheel to separate the tire from the wheel or

3) use a thin layer of aluminum foil as a barrier between the tire and wheel.

The best thing to do is try each one on a wheel (3 wheels total) to see which one would be the best. That way you'll know before you put all the tires on. Also if you get the jewelry stuff be sure it's sat for at least 24 hours to cure and that way you can see if it reacts with the wheel, try on an inside wheel that isn't seen easily. The only other thing I can think of is to see what Chuck might be able to do for you as they may have some ideas as well!!
