I have a couple of the Sword flatbed trucks in my collection. I had an issue with the load straps that came with the trucks as the material that the load straps were made of dried out and broke up into small pieces!! So I took the hooks and opened them up and discarded what was left of the yellow stuff. I got some rubber bands 1/16 inch wide by 2-1/2 to 3 inches long, cut the rubber band and put the hooks on the ends!! Now I have functional load straps again!!!

You can use and color of rubber band as long as it's no wider than 1/16 inch!! Hope this helps out as these load straps can be hard to come by but they don't need to be discarded!!!

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Unfortunately the rubber bands will eventually dry out and break up as well.

Great idea dain. And if they dry out and break, get more. Simple fix, low cost. CAW

I use the stretchy hanging strings, from car air fresheners, pine tree,or they are various fruits. They are different colours,so can be matched with vehicle.I used to work in a retail shop and found loads of the black,or white ones discarded,on the floor.I think they are made of a stretchy fabric,or are protected by a layer of fabric. Yup, I got a 4 pound pack of 1/16" X 2-1/2" for about 6 dollars at Walmart!! I just cut them to the length I want and crimp the hooks on the ends!! One band will make 2 load straps of the long length like the Sword straps!!
