Can anyone offer their methods/insight on how to tighten up some loose hydraulic rams? Much appreciated.

Little super glue but use a little and keep moving the boom until it dries so it don’t glue it in place

The manufacturer and year the model was produced will dictate which methods for tightening loose rams is best. If they're of the solid sort and you can pull them out then slightly crimp the end with pliers. If you can't or don't want to remove them Bakerjoh had a good suggestion. You could also considering slipping a thin piece of material at the pin where the pivot point is to try to create more friction there to get a model to hold a pose. If a ram is too tight you remove it and sand the end down a little or use some lightweight oil to lubricate it.

Barkerjoh has a good idea but watch what super glue you use!! I'd use a gel type because the runny type could wind up gluing the ram in place!! Also it's better to smear a bit of the gel super glue, let it cure then try pushing the rod in because if it doesn't go you can then sand the glue spot down till it works the way you want.

A couple other methods that have worked for me (although it requires taking one side of the cylinder off) is to use a small hammer and slightly deform the rod end that goes into the cylinder jacket, this makes the rod slightly Oval and can't be seen.
Another method is to put a slight bend in the rod which will also make the cylinder stiffer and this can also be done near the end of the rod that goes in the jacket!!
Just be sure if you choose these to do a little bit and test it so you don't over do the deforming or bending, it only needs to be slightly done!!

I prefer clear nail polish over super glue.

Yes, that works even better!! There is actually a clear stuff like nail polish that you can put on jewelry such as rings to keep them from discoloring your finger!! That would work well also!!
