Wildpig1234, That's correct: 53ft containers (and associated carrying semi-trailers) are mainly used in North-America, therefore European and Chinese model producers probably don't see a market wide enough to produce 1/50 diecast models of them. If there are a few 53' box semi-trailers in a 1/50 scale (First Gear, Sword/TWH and now WSI...), the only 53' container unit I know - as said previously - is made by the American Tonkin Replicas, but bad luck: the set is in a 1/53 scale! Regards. Guy Yep.. figured as much. Guess i will just have to stick to playing with a few 1/87 53' container and chassic set i got. I got the kranlab ltm1500 which is the best 1/87 crane thus far but its still a little less satisfying that the 1/50 ver.

does anyone know how's the 1/87 LR1600 by herpa? is it plastic or metal? it's definitely a bit expensive for a 1?87 model

MTH does offer O scale 1/48 48’ containers, but then there’s still the issue of a trailer as none of the container trailers I have actually expand out to that length. The Diecast Masters 53’ trailer seems like a solid start, but my gripe with that trailer is how high the deck sits above the top of the wheels. It kind of looks like it had a lift kit installed and makes for a strange looking profile. Hopefully a manufacturer takes the plunge for a North American 53’ iso container and trailer combo as it would be fantastic to add to railroad dioramas and diecast collections alike.

Yeap, I was hoping that diecast master would make one since they do a lot of the north america stuffs like caterpillars and peterbilt, etc. they already have a few1/50 53' regular trailers so i don't see why 53' containers and trailers can't be done.
