Hey folks, I found these images of a demo job that took place in Dundee in the mid 1980s. At the time these photos were taken I would have been in school just up the road and I used to watch this machine on my lunch break, so you can imagine this is a pretty special find for me - the nostalgia! Anybody have any idea what the attachment is? I did see it up close in person on one occasion, but have never seen anything like it since. Looks like a hammerhead/ripper extension(don't know the official term)So the operator can reach various areas,and use the hammerhead,instead of a bucket.I have never seen one,being used on a machine.I assume it's not as precise as a grapple,or grab.So they are not used in town,or built up areas.Brings back some memories,for me,also!Those were the days!

In the US they are called wrecking poles, and were usually fabricated in demo companies shops. They were very popular before the high reaches came along. Ripper and grader scarifier teeth were usually used and they were made out of well casing pipe. Here are a couple of pictures of the ones I make for models.
