An old offshore drilling and oil platform is being decommissioned at a base where I live and a Weldex Terex CC3800 has been hired in to help with the lifts.

I've been told that it has 100m of boom, either way it's very impressive and there's a rumour that she may be bought and kept here after this project.

Thanks, the maximum wind speed for working her is 9m/s so it seems to be a case of grabbing any weather windows that come.

And that's not many at this time of year!.

Just a small update on the decommissioning of this old drilling/oil rig.

I managed to catch them removing the final flare stack last Saturday.

Yeh, it's an eighteen month project but they're making good progress and there's possibly another one after this which is twice the size!.
