Did some computer scale modeling and designed some concrete buckets for 3D printing There is a 3 Cu yard lay-down concrete bucket in 1:50 scale. Made it available for everyone to buy at Shapeways. It is printed in one solid piece but is also available with a separate lifting bail. Height is 58MM , width is 44MM , depth is 42MM , loading height is 22MM It will fit perfectly with the Manitowoc tower crane from TWH for example. If there are questions just reply. They can be ordered here: Concrete bucketsEef WP_20171007_11_57_40_Pro by eef 7260, on Flickr WP_20171004_12_29_26_Pro by eef 7260, on Flickr WP_20171004_12_28_58_Pro by eef 7260, on Flickr WP_20171004_12_28_48_Pro by eef 7260, on Flickr WP_20170930_11_14_23_Pro by eef 7260, on Flickr

The beauty of 3D printing. Nice to see the Gar Bro lay-down style bucket finally available. Have already ordered the version with separate lifting bail. Now I don't have to scratchbuild these style buckets anymore!! Thanks eef7260!!

Hi Mario You are welcome hope you like it. Have ever been working with the 3D printed material ? ( white strong and flexible ) It's not easiest material to spray paint but it can be done , look at the pictures. But it is the cheapest and strongest . Difficulty is in the fact that its made from tiny melted together par ticals. This has the characteristic that it sort of soaks your primer. So the first layer of primer has to be done much thicker than you used to. Start spraying in layers and go on till you got the whole part sort of shiny wet. Let it dry , do some sanding and primer again , again some drying and some sanding. Now put on the definite layer of paint. Key is make thicker layers but do not loose to much detail. Ps the good part of this material is it can resist paint thinner so you can start over again Hope to see the results here one day Is the 3 Cu yard a good choice ?? or are other sizes more interesting ?? Eef

Eef, As far as the color of the bucket is concerned, I don't mind it left in white, more likely, I will "get it dirty"; in other words, weather it to look as if used. I probably will add the "IN" and "OUT" that is usually painted on the 1:1 buckets when two are used behind a concrete truck. The 3 yard size is perfect. The 3 cubic yard size is the size I am used to seeing; a larger one built by Gar Bro was a 6 cubic yard version used when the foundation for the new One World Trade Center was under construction. According to their literature, the largest is a 10 cubic yard model. An extended chute lay-down bucket of 2 or 3 yard capacity would be a nice addition. I'd like to post a picture of one I recently scratchbuilt for a diorama, but I am unable to post pictures anymore via photobucket Mario T

Eef, I hope this works. Here are the photos of the rear of the extended-chute concrete bucket. It is different from the standard bucket. In addition, the linkage to open the chute is also different. Were you working from the original GarBro drawings when you created the standard buckets? Pictures. And a 3 Cu yard laydown bucket with extended gate. On special request this model. Made it for sale in colored materials as well. So if you do not like to or want to paint it , there are 3 colors and the basic white one. Of course a painted model looks a bit nicer but i hope this is also interesting. Made this model with a separate moveable lifting bail , it needs to be ordered as well to make it complete. Let me know your thoughts or if you have questions reply and i will try to answer it. 3 Cu yard laydown bucket extended gateThe rest of the buckets and the lifting bail is hereEef 5 by eef 7260, on Flickr 4 by eef 7260, on Flickr 3 by eef 7260, on Flickr 2 by eef 7260, on Flickr

eef7260,
The company I retired from bought be a TAZ6 as a parting gift. I'm having fun printing other people's work but want to start making my own parts. Question: What economical drawing programs would you suggest one look into?

Hi That is not the easiest question , i for myself use autodesk inventor but that is not free. You can download a student version but i think that is not legal so i don't know if that is a wise move. But there is a lot of free software but i can not advise wich one is better because i never used one of them. It also depants a bit on the sort of shapes you want to design , i would say read a bit about and give one of them a try. You can always switch after a while , here are some intresting one's. And maybe some other forum members have some advise here ?? http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160309-top-10-free-3d-modeling-software-tools-for-3d-printing.htmlhttps://www.thoughtco.com/top-free-cad-packages-485330Lots of intresting info here https://www.shapeways.com/tutorialsHope this helps a bit

Thanks eef7260!
I am on a 30 day ride with Sketchup Pro. Have also downloaded FreeCAD. LOL, so far I have designed and printed a business card holder that is a wooden crane mat.
