Hi Jason

I am nearly speechless about this model !!!

For me it`s one of the best scratch - built model I have ever seen !!!!!

What`s your next model in 1:24 ?? A dump truck for the 6020B ??????

Best regards

Manfred

Right, even some manufacturers could learn from your model, regarding quality and details accuracy. Whistle

Outstanding job Jason. This is one of the best scratch built project I've seen too.

Well its been slow going with the 6020, had a bunch commission stuff and work has been busy. But only 5 weeks to go now so I really need to push it.
Been putting this hydraulic pack off just do to the crazy detail I knew it would need. Still need to finish off the main plumbing lines on the body.

This was the last pic before I took off the undercarriage to start weathering

Base weathering coat on the tracks, the whole shiny model will be dulled up and completely weathered.

Also made some fire supression tanks for added detail for the overall look of the finished model

5 weeks start to panic yet????

Ok finally started the display base. Its plwood styrofoam and sided with styrene. The base material is sculpt a mold covered in the dirt for the scene is being displayed in.

My favorite part of the model is the bucket. The wearing and weathering turned out perfect

Almost done next to weather the boom and body

That is amazing!!
I hope your competition are shaking in their boots.
Just the sound of an idling engine is all that is missing.

Truly great work Jason! Better add on to your house for all the awards coming your way. If I may ask , did you get the schematics for the plumbing from Cat? Any thoughts of bringing it to the DHS open house? Mike

That's a real beauty. If you don't make it first place, you'll be on the podium for sure....

Hey Jason, I just had that crazy idea looking at the lights on the excavator; how about adding sound to the diorama?

I am guessing you could find good videos on Youtube. All you need to find is an idle engine recording of it, with background mining sounds (like a truck warning alarm going backwards, and so) and put a little speaker and amplifier underneath your diorama. Maybe even just a cell phone playing a sound record in loop (and plugged in) would do the trick... Even more chances to have an edge over the competition. Who knows, next year you might add a diesel fumes burner if smoking regulations of the building allows for Teeth

Just my thoughts... I know, I have that tendency of thinking too much, especially at night Whatever

Thanks guys, I actually have thought about a sound generator, lol

Here is the latest pics 95%completed

Have to touch up the weathering, do the cab interior add the windows then go over it to fine tune everything

Will post more once completed......

You can see the cooling fan, there is one on each side. These will be weathered with some dark dust color for final showing

Everyone needs a place to keep their drinks cold for a long shift so I made this yeti

Final test of the lighting system , look very close at the cab, after the glass was installed it was hard to see the interior, so i added recessed lights in the ceiling
