Headed to Minexpo in a week. Anyone else gong? Surprised I haven't seen any photos on the forum of companies putting their stuff together yet.

I look at the white truck and all I can think is, that's a lot of tire shine!

Just to clarify, it's not remote controlled, it's autonomous. So the onboard computer runs the truck according to the needs identified by the dispatch system. No one is driving the truck by remote control during normal operation.

I love that view from the cab of the PC4000. That's so awesome that you were able to get into the cab.

Thank you so much for sharing, it looks like an incredible event. Take care and have a great weekend.

They also had some cool Autonomous and Semi-Autonomous drills and dozers. Very cool how fast this technology is advancing.

Some random tidbits from Minexep:

1) to move the large tracked units inside the hall, staff lay down 5'x10'x1" steel plates to protect the floor. A fleet of forklifts shuttle the plates from the back to the front as the machines progress.

2) The Hitachi EX5600 was partially assembled off-site into the largest possible city transportable components then moved to outside the convention centre starting the beginning of Sept for final assembly. The unit was driven inside starting Sun Sep 18 at about 4:30am - a week ahead. They put 400gal of fuel into the tanks to ensure the inbound and outbound trips would not run out of fuel. It was the first unit to be moved inside as it was the largest. It all has to go back in the box (the operator’s words) at the end so it can be shipped out of North America to its new owner. The tracks are broken down into 3 link segments for ease of forklift transportation. It was fully assembled and operational except for the connection and filling of the reserve engine oil and coolant replenishment tanks.

3) cost of admission is $200 unless you are an educator or student. I went as an educator.

4) There was less equipment in the outside display area and a bit less equipment for the big guys inside. No Letourneau (P+H/Joy) loader this year.

5) The three main inside halls plus the outside area were huge. I spent 2.5 days walking the show.

6) Cat only had 2 large haul trucks present. The largest was only 340T. In 2012 they were showing their 797. Liebherr was the only company showing a 400T truck (T284)

7) The Komatsu autonomous truck was spectacular. This is not a regular truck with automation added. This was designed as the ground up as a driverless unit. No drivers cab. Four corner steer. One tire in each corner. Four wheel drive. From the driving point of view both ends are the front so no turning around at the load point or the dump point. Only the box is directional in terms of the dump point so once the truck is oriented for dumping then no turnarounds (u-turns) or 3 point turns are needed for the rest of the day. Announcement from an Aussi publication including simulated operational video. https://www.australianmining.com.au/news/komatsu-unveil-cabless-autonomous-trucks/

It is worth the trip in 2020 if you can arrange it.
