I recall Breuer + Wasel doing something similar, about 10 years ago. It was their LR 1750 (soon to be sold to Thoemen, if I recall) using a 4- or 5-axle LTM as derrick ballast for raising the boom. There was a nice set of pictures on Hansebube.

It was used to decrease the truck loads in extra CW to the site. Very cool Liebherr is using it with factory support

OSHA would say "Show me that you have calculated the heaviest pick at the farthest radius, and then show me a manufacturer's load chart that meets those requirements. Then show me that you have the correct piece of equipment, properly maintained and verified, and that it's being used by a licensed operator, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions." If all of those conditions are met, and nothing goes wrong, then they wouldn't have anything else to say.

Thanks John. I work around quarries and asphalt,concrete plants. I got myself in trouble 2 mos. ago. A federal mine inspector was at a quarry. I did not know him. He was with the super.He said there is a a federal mine inspector here make sure you have your safety gear on. OK I said then he said he is a real ........ I said they are only interested in the money.-fines he said I am the inspector and I said soooo.He said I'm done talking to you.
